His first interest in scooters was in the 79 revival, after watching Quad and obtaining a copy of the Mods Mayday Live album (well we all had to start somewhere)

Ian’s first rally was to Colwyn Bay in August 1981 wasn’t a national but there
Was about 300 scooters that had attended. His first national rally was Morecambe Bay in 1982 at the time he had a rather un-reliable SX 200 which liked to take a break every 30 miles to cool down ha ha .

Ian was a member of The Avengers 565 Scooter Club (Liverpool) till the end of 1983 then joined up with Mick Carter, John Chapman (R.I.P. mate) big Lammy and Paul Todd in late 83/start 84  to re-establish the Southport Sandgrounders were he stayed till he sold his P200E in 1985

His favourite  music has got to be Tamla Motown, Ian said he was brought up on it long before the revival.
He also likes the Atlantic Soul Wilson Picket, Sam and Dave etc, then Northern Soul. Also the Doors,  the Action, Small Faces to name but a few.

Ian's first scooter as mentioned above was an SX200 he paid the total sum of £70, followed by a GP225
Arthur Francis Xtra S Type. Then in 1982 Ian had enough of fixing Lammys at the road side and opted for a brand new P200E  and  had 18,000 miles of fun on it.

His favourite rally still to this day was the Isle of White in 1983 Ian said it had a fantastic atmosphere every one was just buzzin and the weather was great.

Ian's worst rally has to be Dunbar in 1984 Jimmy Leghorn and Ian rode up on the Friday the camp site was if you can call it that just appalling and they left on the Saturday morning to come home.
